I cleaned a Fujitsu high-wall mini-split about two weeks ago, and the customer is now saying that condensate is “beading” up on the coil and dripping onto the floor instead of shedding down the coil into the drain pan. I used Viper Evap+ and then thoroughly rinsed the coil with pressurized water using a bib kit. Cleaned many mini splits this way without this issues being reported. I’m wondering if this could be related to surface tension or the way the coil surface is wetting. There’s a whole category of products called surfactants/wetting agents that reduce surface tension and help water spread over a surface. Dish soap is a common example. Has anyone run into this after cleaning a mini-split coil? Could something about the cleaning process change how the condensate wets the coil and sheds into the pan?
