Mitsubishi Bulletin 2336: Leak sensor placement on horizontal R-454B air handlers Mitsubishi Electric Trane HVAC US (METUS) sent out Bulletin 2336 on September 8 about refrigerant leak sensor failures on certain R-454B air handlers installed horizontal left or horizontal right. The issue: if the sensor stays in its factory shipping position, condensate from the indoor coil can drip onto it. METUS found water inside failed sensors. That can damage the sensor and disable refrigerant leak detection. The sensor needs to be moved during horizontal installation, following the unit’s installation manual. METUS is asking contractors to review affected horizontal installations and correct the sensor location where needed. A damaged sensor may need replacement. The affected-model list covers specific SVZ-AP, PVA-AA, PVFY-L, PVFY-M, TPVFYP, RVZ-AP, and RVZ-AP-M models. Check the exact model and code in the resolution PDF.
